Dear God in heaven! Watching a tattooing show on History International and people are now getting their eyeballs tattooed. That may be the worst thing I’ve ever thought about.
He said, “You know, Babe, I can’t help wonder if Henry’s death in Italy, and the kids we got to know and love who didn’t come back-I wonder if their sacrifices was worth it.”
Bill never gets introspective. Only when he misses Henry. Not a day has gone by in sixty-three years that he hasn’t thought about him. He won’t tell you, but he gets tears in his eyes when he thinks about him. He wants to go to Italy and see the grave, and we haven’t made it over, but he thinks of Henry in any cemetery we go to. Sometimes he’s okay and sometimes he breaks down, and I walk over to him and put my arm around him, and say, “Everything’s fine, come on.” And he says, “I’m okay.”
Believe me I know the sacrifices made by those who fought and lived, and the complete sacrifice made by the kids who never came home. But I saw the faces of the people we set free from their occupiers—from France to Holland to Belgium, and I saw the people in the concentration camp—and I saw the life, and even joy, return to people who’d been starved and beaten close to death, who’d seen their family members die horrible deaths. Even they could find joy again once they were free. At least they had the choice.
Even if the people visiting the Liberty Bell don’t understand what it symbolizes, it doesn’t change what we accomplished. I put my hand on Bill’s shoulder and told him, yeah, the sacrifices was worth it. He said, “Yeah, I think so too.” —Babe Heffron, ‘Brothers in Battle Best of Friends’
“Then God speed you on your way: May the same Fellow who led you by the hand in Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, and Germany look kindly upon you and guard you until the last great jump!” - Colonel Sink—————————————— Finished reading Band of Brothers. I am more impressed than ever at the incredible job everyone involved in making the film did in portraying the events and the men in a respectful, emotional and realistic way. Anxious to read the books written by those who were there. I find I’m not sold on Ambrose’s writing though I’m extremely grateful to him for giving Easy Company and WWII in general the recognition they deserve.
And what if in your sleep, you dreamed?
And what if in your dream, you went to heaven
and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower?
And what if, when you woke, you had the flower in your hand?
Ah! What then?” —Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Epigraph from Second Glance by Jodi Picoult (via anhelos)
I agree. Tumblr could totally own Twitter if it had more chat functionality.
u2fangirl replied to your photo: This photo look familiar to anyone?
I have one just like it ;-)
I so wish there was a function to “like” comments on Tumblr. You have to physically post the response in order to acknowledge it! *virtual like*
Yep it’s official. I hate the women of The Forsyte Saga. Puling idiots all. Can someone tell me why all these men fall desperately in love with Irene? She is completely devoid of personality. She has a man who loves her, would do anything for her, saved her from poverty and after 2 years of marriage she “loathes” him? Why? I think I loathe her more than any other fictional character I’ve ever encountered. I am filled with rage that has no outlet. Grrrrrrrr! Don’t even get me started on June’s incessant whining! The author had to have been a misogynist.
Wow! I absolutely despise all of the women in The Forsyte Saga except maybe Helene.
Dear Soames is so uptight. Should Providence grant me the opportunity to loosen him up…I totally would.
Damn! All these close-ups of Damian in The Forsyte Saga are giving me palpitations. He is so beautiful I might swoon. Quick! Someone loosen my corset.
The burgundy Christmas in Atlanta dress has always been my favorite. The color is so rich and the top is just gorgeous with the cream material gathered and piped with burgundy. Pure dress porn :-D
I got so many great responses to my question yesterday! I love hearing from other fans. Keep ‘em coming!
So today’s question is: what is your favorite Scarlett and/or Anne costume?
Mine are:
I have loved GWTW for so many years that my favorite costume changes all the time, but right now this one is my favorite.
For Anne:
The Red Pembroke dress is close behind.
So what are yours?
Yeah I would check out the DVD. It’s a really good concert DVD and you can see the stage in all its glory and the band too of course. I’m going to 7 this summer.
Jersey is pretty cool, I used to live there hehe. I haven’t seen it, no. Should I try to find it? Jersey shows have that habit, they get loud, fast. I’m not going this summer, no. We were hoping to but we can’t go to the show in East Rutherford this summer. How many will you be seeing this summer?
Yep, Jersey. 360 is unbelievable! Have you seen the Rose Bowl DVD? The stage and the lighting is a spectacle like I’ve never seen before. They are really having fun on this tour too. You can tell that they are as amazed by the stage as the audience and the crowds are unbelievable. The Jersey show was actually the loudest audience I have ever heard. Are you going to a show this summer?
Oh wow, that’s got to be amazing!! East Rutherford like East Rutherford, New Jersey? Whats the 360 tour like?
